Trump made his own twitter?

Image
Trump made his own twitter? Donald Trump launched a new app called Truth Social, which was created just about a year after he was banned from twitter.  This is interesting to me because someone that was banned from the mainstream social media is just creating his own to spread his own ideology.  Trump is hoping that this app will bring over his followers from twitter, but I have a hard time believing that will happen, at least any time soon.  This seems like a way to stay relevant in the news because I realistically do not see anyone getting on there from any other party other than staunch conservatives.  This apps brings about the question from his Twitter ban, do social media platforms have to uphold freedom of speech, or since they are a privately owned company can they do what they want?  I honestly do not know the answer to this question, and that is why I am posing it to you guys.  I would love to hear yalls input on Trump's new social media pl...

DuckDuckGo and search queries

Image
I have done a blog before on if elections are being influenced with google's search engine, but now even the New York Times is getting in on the google train.  In an article released this morning by the NYT, the author described how Google was better than DuckDuckGo in terms of the search engine capabilities, which he is right on.  However, what he does not understand is that Duck Duck Go is uncrated, so that means that if those set of words are anywhere on any webpage/document on the internet, then they will show you the results.  Unlike that of Google who shows you a search list comprised of websites that are on Google's black box list.  This list is just a cross reference list of sites that are untrustworthy, might have malware, etc.  However, what some people have noticed is that some sights are on that list that do not deserve to be on there.  That in turn lowers the numbers for these websites.  What the author failed to realize is the fund...

Twitter and the first amendment

Image
Recently there has been a calling from a handful of Michigan Republican lawmakers that want to ban large companies, like Twitter, from removing accounts of politicians that violate their terms of service.  This is coming roughly a year after Former President Donald Trump was banned from Twitter.  I find this interesting, but it is worthy of listening to because after all there is the first amendment in the USA.  However, where it gets tricky is in this question: Do private companies, such as Twitter, have the right to ban someone for something they say while residing in the United States?  This is a difficult question, in my eyes, because we are brought up in America to believe that you have the right to say anything you want to under the first amendment, unless you're inciting violence.  So, should that right then be applied to a social media platform such as Twitter?  Personally, I do not know because I have mixed feelings on the subject.  How...

Pharmaceutical/campaign ads

Image
While playing video games recently I have made friends with a guy from Sweden, and somehow we ended up talking about the differences between American TV and European TV.  This came up because for a brief period my buddy Rex lived in the United States, but now he is back in Sweden.  He was telling me that the biggest difference between them is the pharmaceutical ads that are run here in America.  He told me that in Europe there are essentially no type of advertising on various drugs, which I thought to be crazy because of how commonplace they are here in America.  It seems that almost every commercial break, in America, that there is an advertisement for mesothelioma or some other type of disease/drug for the disease.   This made me think about which method is better for the public.  I could see value on both sides of the argument because on one hand a person could find out about a drug from and advertisement, and it could end up working out for ...
